�������� University, 9th October, 2024-* �������� University’s School of Nursing has received a major boost in its teaching capacity, thanks to the generous donation of laboratory equipment from Patrick Raymond Musa and wife. The donation, valued at over $15,000, includes essential medical models and tools, such as large and medium human skeletons, two digital microscopes, male and female human torso models, and organ replicas including the head, heart, liver, and kidneys.

The donation ceremony, held on October 9, 2024, was graced by Mr. Patrick Raymond Musa and wife, who, on behalf of the Musa family, emphasized the importance of giving back to the community. Mr. Musa highlighted how health is integral to economic transformation, stating, “Without a healthy body, no economic transformation can take place. This contribution will help both lecturers and students by allowing them to see, touch, and feel real models instead of just learning from pictures.”

Mr. Musa, who has a background in water, sanitation, and hygiene, also spoke about his passion for public health and environmental management, noting that his family identified a gap in resources at the School of Nursing and decided to step in.

The Dean of the School of Community Health Sciences, Professor Rashid Ansumana, in his remarks, commended the Musa family for their generosity on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Principal. “This is the type of Sierra Leoneans we love, those who contribute positively rather than merely criticizing,” he said. The Dean noted that the equipment donation aligns with the school’s plans to develop its laboratories and will significantly reduce the resources they had been seeking externally.

Dr. Angella Magdalene George, the Head of the Department of Nursing, expressed profound gratitude, saying, “This donation is more than just a contribution of resources; it is an investment in the future of nursing education and the health and well-being of the communities we serve.” She further emphasized how the new equipment will enhance the practical, hands-on experience of the students, better preparing them for their future roles in healthcare.

The donation marks a significant step towards improving the skills laboratory and the learning environment at the School of Nursing, ensuring that students now have access to modern equipment that will aid their studies and professional growth.

This contribution from the Musa family represents a powerful example of how private individuals can support Sierra Leone’s educational and healthcare sectors, creating a lasting impact on the nation’s future.
