ΝαΝαΒώ» University, 7th November 2024 β ΝαΝαΒώ» University's Bo campus has this morning hosted a recognition ceremony for 20 language educators from the Schools of Education and Basic Education, as part of the "Teaching and Learning in Fragile Contexts" (TLFC) project. This initiative aims to enhance pedagogical skills in English Language, Literacy, and Literature within Sierra Leonean classrooms. Held at the CAPS Centre, Towama location on Bo Campus, the event brought together administrators, educators, students, and project partners from various institutions.
The certification ceremony marked the educatorsβ successful completion of an intensive βTraining of Teacher Educatorsβ workshop conducted from September 12th to 14th, 2024. The workshop focused on advancing literacy, promoting gender equity, and strengthening classroom instruction through comprehensive professional development. Participants engaged in pre-service and in-service learning modules, along with mentoring and coaching sessions.
In his opening remarks, Professor Mohamed Syed Fofanah, Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) of ΝαΝαΒώ» University and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) for Bo Campus, acknowledged the importance of recognizing those who contribute to educational progress. He noted, "Recognition for hard work is a laudable endeavor." His remarks reflected ΝαΝαΒώ» University's dedication to fostering impactful educational initiatives in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Paul K. Ngaujah, Deputy Registrar for Bo Campus, expressed optimism for continued growth, stating, "We are committed to supporting initiatives that enhance our staffβs skills. Professional development is essential for maintaining high educational standards."
The ceremony underscored ΝαΝαΒώ» Universityβs commitment to equipping educators to thrive in challenging environments. As discussions turned toward the projectβs next phasesβincluding a new round of classroom observations set for Novemberβthe University reaffirmed its dedication to quality education and support for educators throughout Sierra Leone.
